Sirin graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Neuroscience and Psychology. She studied identity development across the lifespan in Dr. Dan McAdams’s Lab and completed her honors thesis in Dr. Hao Li’s lab, where she researched a thalamic pathway underlying valence-signaling in the brain. Sirin joined Dr. Eric Nelson’s Lab at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in July 2025. She is interested in the development of emotional and cognitive networks in the adolescent brain and how disruptions to neurodevelopmental processes affect vulnerability to mental disorders. In the future, Sirin hopes to pursue a PhD in developmental neuroscience. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, making music, and trying new food
