In the FAM Lab, our goal is to reduce rates of depressive and anxiety disorders among children and adolescents.
To accomplish this, we study risk factors for these disorders across development using multiple methods, with a particular focus on alterations in positive and negative emotion processing. In addition, we test biological and environmental mechanisms implicated in the transmission of depression and anxiety from parents to their offspring. We strive to use what we learn from these mechanism-based studies to inform the development and modification of intervention programs for youth at greatest risk.
